First night in a big boy bed

The application of actually sleeping in the big boy bed still needs some work.

People say the best thing about kids is looking at them and seeing some of you in them...My wife has to be the happiest person on the planet. Cleaning is fairly foreign to me. But to them...

And the good news is he's starting to actually do a good job when he picks one up...

Fork Me!

As indicated in the last post, he's growing up. Yesterday I accidentally left a fork on his lunch tray. He immediately grabbed the fork and put his pieces of hotdog on it. And 4 hotdogs later had mastered the usage of that particular utensil.

He's not a baby anymore.

No pics, just a story to share today.

The three of us were out in the yard this afternoon. Eric was cutting down trees (as all good Dad's do), I was weeding out a flower bed or two, and neither of us were sure anything would get done with a toddler underfoot. To our surprise, Alexander was completely happy to be on his own and wandered aimlessly around the yard, chattering to himself, pointing at trees, birds and airplanes, and was completely independent from Mom and Dad (shhh, he doesn't know that Mom was secretly watching) for over an HOUR! At one point, he wanted to water the plants so I turned on the hose and gave him a couple of buckets to play with, after remembering what a friend said about her son loving the hose. I would occasionally glance up to see how he was doing and he was busy chattering at the water, pouring it over himself, filling up the buckets, and pouring it all out again. A few times, he had to toddle over and pour water on the weeds I was pulling but for the most part, I was very thankful to whomever invented the hose. He was soon covered in mud but was completely content, being a boy in a mud puddle.

Just two weeks ago, our little man wouldn't have wandered far from either one of us out in the yard and today, he could have cared less where we were.

He's definitely not a baby anymore.

We put a cat door into the downstairs bathroom door so guests don't have to hurdle the gate each time they visit. We're not sure who enjoys the new set up more...

Summer fun

So, we haven't updated lately. We've all been transitioning to Mommy being home every day, Daddy being home every day, and Alexander being BUSY every day. We spend the days going on walks with Grandma, playing with toys, watching Sesame Street, playing with Jo-Jo (Michelle's cousin Jodie), playing with more toys, and hanging out in the backyard or going to parks. Both sets of grandparents have been great about coming over for visits and giving us time to go out or work in the yard. We've got to get this house and yard in shape before Uncle Patrick and Auntie Lissa arrive in August (BTW, we can't WAIT!). It's a busy summer and going by faster than expected. Guess that's life with a toddler!!
